Valdese, NC – Valdese Family Friday Nights Summer Concert series will feature Mama’s Remedy this Friday, June 10, beginning at 7:00pm, located in the Town Parking area.

Mama’s Remedy is a band of seasoned musicians who pride themselves on their non-traditional approach to performing an eclectic mix of classic and southern rock, dance and new country. They also perform a variety of new grass, soul and Americana.

The band is fronted by spouses, Jill Benfield (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Kurt Benfield (vocals, bass guitar). Hailing from Hickory, NC, they have performed in many successful projects over a stretch of decades. Mama’s Remedy is their first musical venture together. They are joined by guitarists Nathan Brown and Jaret Carter, and percussionist Waylon Von Smith.

Mama’s Remedy performs in Hickory and the surrounding areas. Benfield has a sound that has been described as a mix between Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks.

Mama’s Remedy plays Valdese 6/10

The band draws large audiences who come to listen to their harmonies and soulful sound. They have performed at numerous venues in the area, including the Granite Falls Brewery and Catawba Valley Brewery.

Benfield sees music as a source of healing. After a life-threatening injury, she turned to music for comfort and coping. She began playing guitar with her husband and they used the music to heal. Mama’s Remedy is guaranteed to deliver sweet harmonies, dynamic musicianship and the best remedy for the soul.

Concessions will be available and provided by the Valdese Merchant’s Association. Myra’s cruise in will begin every Friday night at 6:00pm and downtown shops will remain open later. For further information about events in Valdese and the full Family Friday Night’s Concert Schedule go to
