Valdese, NC – The Town of Valdese is proud to announce that James Hamby, James Queen, Willard Church, and Richard Lutz will all be honored as Grand Marshals for the Valdese Annual Christmas Parade, which will be held on Saturday, December 2, at 10:00am.

Hamby, Queen, Church, and Lutz are all being honored as World War II Veterans who are still living in Valdese. “We are incredibly honored that so many WWII Veterans are able to join us as Grand Marshals of this year’s Christmas Parade. These men served our country heroically and it is humbling that they accepted our invitation to kick off this year’s Christmas season.” States Seth Eckard, Valdese Town Manager. The Grand Marshals will be featured at the beginning of the parade lineup.

The parade will begin at the corner of Church St. and Main, and will conclude at the corner of Morgan St. and Main. “We are so excited to kick off the Holiday Season with our annual Christmas Parade. The parade is a great way to get everyone in the holiday spirit!” states Morrissa Angi, Director of Community Affairs and Tourism for the Town of Valdese.

The Piedmont & Western Railroad Museum will host an open house at the Old Rock School the morning of the parade. Parade visitors are invited to view the HO scale model railroad exhibit which stretches from Marion, NC to Leadvale, TN. Admission is free, and donations are greatly appreciated.

Attendees are encouraged to visit the downtown merchants while they are in town for the parade. Several merchants have gone above and beyond with their Christmas window displays this year. The Valdese Merchants Association is hosting a People’s Choice Award for the most festive window in downtown. The public is invited to vote for their favorite on the Town of Valdese Facebook page. The business with the most festive window will win $100.
