Now in Theaters:

Moonage Daydream (2022) Brett Morgen assembled this portrait of legendary musician and actor, David Bowie, the first of its kind. The film, shot and designed for IMAX presentations, features never before seen footage from the late performer’s archives including concert excerpts among many other things.

New to Disc:

Warner Brothers:

The Lost Boys (1987) Joel Schumacher’s tale of teenage vampires gets a 4K UHD upgrade this week in a new edition that boasts a terrific new transfer. Archival extras include commentaries, featurettes and ‘lost’ scenes.

Poltergeist (1982) Tobe Hooper and Stephen Spielberg’s ghostly collaboration, which became a pop culture milestone, also arrives this week in a new 4K remastering. Archival extras include a look at the real world of Poltergeists and a seven minute behind the scenes featurette.

Warner Archive:

King Kong (1933) The classic original is back after having been out of print for quite a while. This standard Blu Ray release contains all of the bonus materials on the previous release and there is plenty to behold.

Criterion:

Exotica (1994) Atom Egoyan’s acclaimed tale of the various characters who work and frequent a strip club gets the deluxe treatment from the label this week in a new edition. Extras include several short films by the director, interviews and commentary.

Le Corbeau (1943) French filmmaker Henri Georges Clouzot’s tale of what happens when one of the citizens of a small community decides to begin sending out poison pen letters gets a new 4K restoration this week. Extras include interview and a documentary excerpt.

Kino:

The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) Barbara Stanwyck is the young heiress of the film’s title whose affair with a friend brings dire consequences to her and those in her orbit. Extras include a new commentary.

Other notable new releases from the label this week include Dreamchild (1985), the story of the inspiration for the beloved book, Alice in Wonderland, the Italian western, Ace High (1968) and The Last Train from Madrid (1937).

CBS DVD:

The Equalizer: Season 2 (2021-22) The second season of the reboot of the 80s crime series comes to DVD in a four disc set complete with a gag reel and deleted scenes.

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-94) The adventures of Captain Picard and crew are getting a Blu Ray release in this new set containing the entire series run. Multiple extras are included.
