Morganton, NC – Join Morganton in celebrating 38 years of the Morganton Festival sponsored by Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge! The free festival features free music all day plus national country acts, Kid Zone fun with rides and games, and food for all ages, plus over a mile and a half of arts & craft vendors from all over the country!

After its inaugural debut in 2018, the Morganton Festival is bringing back the Indie Stage featuring performances throughout the day. The Indie Stage highlights a wide variety of genres, showcasing some of the best bands located in the region. The stage provides an intimate setting under a large tent where festival goers can escape from the heat and enjoy festival food and beverages from neighboring vendors. The stage/tent will be located on the Courthouse Square next to the Burke Arts Council. Beer and wine will be on Meeting Street be-side the tent. The Indie Stage will feature FREE music ALL DAY on both Friday, September 6th and Saturday, September 7th. Come enjoy the fun at the 38th annual Morganton Festival.

Pan Jive Steel Drum Band will kick-start the music beginning at 3:00pm on Friday. Based in Hickory, Pan Jive is a high-energy steel drum band, offering the sounds of the Caribbean islands. The Asheville group Gypsy Grass continues the entertainment at 5:30pm.This super group of virtuoso musicians formed around a love for bluegrass, gypsy jazz and fun pop/rap covers. This is a performance you won’t want to miss! Then at 8:00pm Wiregrass jams out. This group jams to a mix of bluegrass, but that’s not all they do. From Bill Monroe to the Doobie Brothers, from Flatt n Scruggs to Bob Dylan, they play a fun array of tunes. While visiting the Morganton Festival, be sure to check out the City Stage for performances by The Broadcast at 8:00pm and then at 9:30pm see Thunderstruck, NC’s Ultimate AC/DC Tribute show.

Music starts back on Saturday following Story-Time and Meet and Greet with The Cat in the Hat with a 12:30pm performance from The Funk Connection. Festival attendees will be able to groove to a collection of soulful and funky tunes brought to you be this regional group. At 3:00pm, Greg Mastin and the Druthers kicks off the afternoon by bringing a little Americana to your day. Matt Walsh and the Movers play a clever blend of numerous styles of music at 5:30pm – early electric and country Blues, Rock N Roll, Soul, R&B, Jazz and more! Then Shiloh Hill close out the Indie Stage on Saturday at 8:00pm. This Winston-Salem-based Indie Rock band layers traditional folk instruments over a rock band rhythm section, bringing a smooth and infectious energy to the stage. Throughout the evening, check in to the City Stage for music by country artists Farewell Angelina and National Country Artist Rodney Atkins beginning at 8:00pm.
