Morganton, NC – The annual Sunrise Run on the Greenway, hosted by the Historic Morganton Festival and presented by Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge, takes place on the morning of Saturday, September 10th. In 2015, over 500 runners and walkers competed in the 5k, 10k, one-mile fun run and Student Fitness Challenge. To register go to www.morgantonfest.org or call 828-438-5252 for an application. The course is certified and the race, chip timed.
In addition to the Sunrise Run, a Student Fitness Challenge, which offers Burke County elementary and middle schools the opportunity to garner $200 for their physical education programs by having at least 10 participants in the sunrise one mile fun run/walk; the school with the most students will receive an additional $500 for their program! Students must register through their PE Teachers; registration per student is $7.00 and includes a t-shirt! We will see you on Saturday, September 10th at Catawba Meadows Park!
Pre-registration and packet pickup will occur at the race site between 5:00pm and 7:00pm at Catawba Meadows on Friday, September 9th. Follow the signs!

Race-day registration is from 6:30 until 7:30 a.m.
5K and 10K begin at 8:00am.
1 mile Fun Run/Walk and Student Challenge begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration 8am-9:00 am.

(Early registration guarantees a t-shirt). 5K & 10K Registration (August 19 – September 8th) $25; 5K & 10K Race Day (September 9th & 10th) $30.

Please note that participants in the Student Fitness Challenge MUST register with their PE Teachers by Friday, September 2nd in order to be eligible for the race.
After the race, be sure to stop in Downtown Morganton and attend the Historic Morganton Festival where over 40,000 people experience a variety of arts, crafts, foods, and entertainment.
