Hickory – Seniors Morning Out participants will enjoy a variety of activities in November, including cooking classes and performances by Christian comedian, Mama Susie and Jazz Trio Blue Tulip.
Any resident of Catawba County who is 60 or better is invited to join Seniors Morning Out, which is held between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at five convenient locations. A hot, balanced lunch is served each day. Programs are free to participants, who may pick and choose which days to attend. Bus transportation to and from the sites is available in some locations.
On November 7, seniors 60 years or older are invited to attend a performance by the Christian comedian Mama Susie at Huntington Hills Church of God Family Life Center from 9:00am-12:00noon. Registration is required by calling 828-695-5610 by October 31. Lunch will be provided at no cost. On November 8, seniors 60 years or older are invited to attend a performance by jazz trio Blue Tulip at the Maiden Community Center at 9:00am. Registration is required by calling 828-695-5610 by November 1. Lunch will be provided at no cost.
The Mama Susie and Blue Tulip performances are supported by a grant from the United Arts Council of Catawba County through the North Carolina Arts Council, with funding from the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

Seniors Morning Out is operated by Senior Nutrition Services of Catawba County Social Services and is in need of volunteers to assist with the program between 8:30am and noon, Monday – Thursday.
