Hickory – The title role of Rita in Remarkable Rita and the Gallant Thieves belongs to young Katelyn Sears. This production by the RugBug Theatre program will have four more performances this weekend, Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 at the Hickory Community Theatre.

Remarkable Rita is Sears’ first play and she is very excited about her role. A fourth grader at Jenkins Elementary, she plans to be an actor when she grows up.

The RugBug Theatre at HCT is a “by kids for kids” program where young actors perform for young audiences. Actors’ ages usually range from 6-16 and audiences have children as young as three. The plays are short, 45 minutes to an hour with a 10 minute intermission between acts, which is perfect for young children.

Performances of Rita in Remarkable Rita and the Gallant Thieves are Saturday and Sunday, May 12th and 13th at 2:30 and 4:00pm. Admission is just $5 for all ages. Ticket sales are at the door only, first-come first-served.

HCT is a Funded Affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County. The 2017-2018 Season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive and A Cleaner World. The RugBug Theatre is produced by Commscope, The Rotary Club of Hickory and Shurtape.
