Hickory – Friday, September 14, at 6:30pm., the City of Hickory’s 2018 Sails Original Music Series will feature Seth Walker, one of the most revered modern roots artists in America.

“Seth describes himself as a ‘southern roots troubadour.’ With his terrific vocal chops and solid guitar talents, we think he’s a Raul Malo-Eric Clapton love-child,” says Bob Sinclair, coordinator for the Sails Original Music Series.

Walker’s music pays homage to roots and tradition, while blending contemporary songwriting with varied musical stylings, ranging from blues, gospel, and pop, to R&B, rock, and a hint of country. The result is pure Americana.

Alli Marshall of Mountain Xpress recognized Walker’s undeniable musical gifts by stating, “Seth is a diverse talent encompassing blues and swing styles in his music with great songwriting. His band is known for making audiences stand up, dance, swoon a little and then clap for more.”

The Sails Original Music Series will feature live music under the Sails on the Square in Downtown Hickory every Friday evening in September, beginning at 6:30pm. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Olde Hickory Brewery and Shadow Line Vineyard will sell beer and wine in designated areas, and there are a variety of nearby restaurants to patronize.

The presenting sponsor of the series is Lowes Foods, while the Hickory Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau was the premier sponsor for the month of May and The Hickory Wine Shoppe is the premier sponsor for the month of September. Additional sponsors include: Bob Sinclair Music, Larry’s Music & Sound, Pfahlert Creative Labs, Olde Hickory Brewery, and Crowne Plaza. Media partners include WNNC 1230 AM/WAIZ 63 Big Ways, WNCW 88.7FM, and FOCUS Newspaper. In the event of rain, the Sails Original Music Series will be held indoors at the Hickory Elks Lodge #1654, located at 356 Main Ave NW.
