Hickory – The first RugBug play is “Warp!” This is a comic book style, science fiction adventure with a brave hero, a wicked villain and the scary, but funny “faceless ones.” The first weekend of performances is July 28-30 in the Firemen’s Kitchen.Show times are 2:30 Thursday, 11:30 Friday and 2:30 on Saturday. Tickets are $5 each for all ages, seating is general admission and tickets are for sale at the door for each show. Heading up the staging is Murray Phillips, who has worked several times with young actors at the Theatre.
Phillips’ work is well known to HCT audiences for his choreography of the musicals “All Shook Up,” “The Sound of Music” and “White Christmas.” He also won a Kay Award for his onstage performance as Ezekiel Foster in “White Christmas.”
Auditions are also being held earlier in the week for the second play, “Snug the Magic Dog.” This is the story of a black puppy with one white paw that has magical properties. Auditions are Monday and Tuesday, July 25 & 26 at 1:00pm. There are roles for seven boys and girls, up to age 17, younger children must be at first grade reading level.
