Hickory – The Ridgeview Library Friends are celebrating Kwanzaa with a performance from Tyrone Jefferson and A Sign of the Times (Charlotte) beginning at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Ridgeview Library. You are invited to come and learn more about this holiday and to enjoy the story of Kwanzaa as told through jazz, R&B and classic music. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Ridgeview Library.

Kwanzaa is a celebration of African American culture and history and is celebrated each year for seven days, December 26 through January 1, with a focus on reconnecting to an African past and promoting the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
