Hickory – The Piedmont Percussion Program is excited to announce their Spring Concert on Sunday, March 25 at 4pm at First United Methodist of Hickory beside the SALT BLOCK. The concert will be in the CLC and is free and open to the public.

The concert will followed this spring by a day tour of performances to 3 schools including Longview Elementary, St. Stephens Lutheran School, and Clyde Campbell Elementary.

P3, under the direction of Rick Cline, is a nationally recognized community percussion program with over 50 kids ages 5 to 18 from the surrounding area. Participants get to learn and perform on a wide variety of percussion instruments from timpani, snare, mallets, drum set, African drums and so much more. Rehearsals are one hour on Sundays for 12 wks Aug – Nov. and Jan – April, at the SALT block. In addition P3 has 2 community steel drum bands, Pandemic (for teens) and Steel Groovin’ (adults).

The concert will be filled with fun percussion ensemble pieces and will also have an appearance by the Pandemic steel drum band, the Hickory High percussion ensemble, and the Styx and Stones percussion group.

P3 will offer a workshop on African Drumming June 18-22, 7:30-8:30pm and a workshop on Steel Drums, June 18- 22, 6-7:30pm. For more information please visit www.px-3.org or text 828-320-2959.
