Hickory – Northminster Presbyterian Church will host internationally acclaimed composer, Sally Ann Morris, on Sunday March 5 for several events. Ms. Morris recently released a new collection of hymns called Spread the Good News in collaboration with text writers such as Adam Tice, Mel Bringle, and Thomas Troeger.
Ms. Morris will musically lead a worship session which is open to the public at 10 AM on March 5 with songs from Spread the Good News. The worship session will be followed by a lunch at 11:15 AM with all invited to attend.
From 2 PM to 3 PM Ms. Morris will lead a workshop on effective ways of using Spread the Good News in Lent, Easter, and throughout the year. There is a $35 registration fee for the workshop, which includes a copy of the Spread the Good News hymnal. Attendees can register at http://www.npchickory.org/grow/register/.
At 4:30 PM Ms. Morris will lead a Hymn Festival in the Northminster Sanctuary which is free and open to the public.
Sally Ann Morris lives and works in North Carolina and has composed hymn tunes since 1990, with three published collections. She is the recipient of the 2009 Sam Ragan Award for contributions to the Fine Arts in North Carolina and the 2011 Henry Grady Miller Cup awarded by the NC Federation of Music Clubs. She currently serves as Director of Music Ministries at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
