Lincolnton, NC – What do McGruff The Crime Dog and the Schiele Museum Outreach Department have in common? These are two amongst ten educational and entertaining programs scheduled at no cost to children (18 years old and younger) attending the 4th Annual Boger City United Methodist Church’s Summer Lunch meal site in their Fellowship Hall, located 2320 East Main Street in Lincolnton the weeks of Thursday, July 26, and Friday, July 27 and Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3rd. Children and adults are encouraged to arrive early for these programs and other listed below beginning at 11am to 11:45pm. Children (18 years old and younger) are encouraged to make plans to eat lunch from 12 NOON to 12:30pm at the church.

Over the next two weeks, BCUMC Summer Lunch committee have scheduled additional free educational and entertaining programs listed below for children. All educational and entertaining programs are subject to change due to an emergency or change in our volunteer schedule.

Thursday, July 26 – Math Games With Libby & Lori

Friday, July 27 – McGruff The Crime Dog and his friends will present a crime safety program.

Monday, July 31 – Rhonda Saunders, RN, Lincoln County Health Department, will present program about staying physically fit.

Wednesday, August 1 – Kristi Phillips, RN, Lincoln County Health Department, will present informative program about school health, flu prevention, and handwashing.

Thursday, August 2 – Ashley Maddox, will provide children to receive a glitter tattoo.

Friday, August 3 – Schiele Museum Outreach Department staff will provide an interactive educational program involving live, preserved, and skeletons of animals and reptiles (no snakes).

In 2017, we provided over 553 children (18 years and younger) with a bag lunch consisting of a sandwich, vegetable, fruit, and milk and over 300 adults accompanying their children, grandchildren, their nephew and/or niece with a healthy snack at Boger City United Methodist Church Summer Lunch Program by the end of 8 weeks,” said Sandy Tomlinson, BCUMC Summer Lunch site manager.

“Since our 4th Annual BCUMC Summer Lunch Program began on Monday, June 18th, we have already fed lunch to over 330 children and a healthy snack and bottle water to over 35 adults. With three weeks remaining until our summer lunch program ends on Friday, August 10, we are anticipating exceeding number of children served in 2017,” emphasized Tomlinson.
