Hickory – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s (LRU) 2017-18 Concert Series continues with the tradition of hosting the United States Navy Commodores. The Navy’s premier jazz big band will perform Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. in P.E. Monroe.
The group, originally formed in 1969, consists of 18 members. It continues to be a jazz band with the finest musicians. The group writes and arranges much of their music library. Their concerts combine an eclectic mix of the traditional big band music. They have appeared on television, play in nearly all jazz festivals, and have toured the United States and abroad.
The performance is free and open to public. Seating is limited and tickets are required. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. To learn more, visit lr.edu/public-events or call the LRU Box Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 828.328.7206 for ticket information.
Established in the fall of 2000, the Concert Series at LRU serves the University community and the greater Hickory area by providing opportunities to hear and interact with musical artists.
The Concert Series promotes a talented array of artists each season and provides student access to concerts and recitals, artist lectures, and hands-on experience in master class settings.
