Hickory – Women’s Resource Center announces an Inspiring Women Luncheon, Tuesday, August 27, from Noon until 1pm. Enjoy a delicious lunch provided by our friends at PDQ and featured Guest Speaker, Professor Charlotte Williams.

Professor Charlotte Williams is the Associate Dean of Engaged and Global Learning, as well as the Program Coordinator for the Interdisciplinary Human and Community Services major at Lenoir Rhyne University. In her role as Associate Dean, she oversees the William and Robert Shuford Center for International Education, which recently received a $5 million dollar endowment from the Shuford family.

Charlotte is committed to helping people and improving the quality of their lives through her professional and community service work. She is a member of the Hickory City Council and previously served two terms on the Hickory City School Board. She has held numerous leadership roles for several community boards and organizations in our area.

Charlotte is originally from the Chicago area, where she graduated from the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She then went on to obtain her graduate degree in Social Welfare and Public Policy from the University of Chicago. Charlotte worked in the Mayor’s office for the city of Chicago as an Assistant Deputy Mayor in Health and Human Services, and was subsequently appointed to Assistant Commissioner for the Chicago Planning Department.

Professor Williams is the mother of four grown sons who live in the North and Southeast regions of the country.
