Hickory – The Community Relations Council (CRC) will host the annual Family Movie Night at the Carolina Theater in Downtown Hickory on Wednesday, November 15. This year, the CRC will partner with the Continuum of Care for Catawba County and will highlight “Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.”
The movies that will be shown this year are Storied Streets, which is a documentary about homelessness and The Stray, which is a true story about a stray dog that changed the lives of a family. Admission to Family Movie Night is a minimum donation of at least two items to help those in need in the community. Needed items include: clothing (new or slightly used), toiletries, first aid items, and/or nonperishable food items. (Tents, sleeping bags, tarps and back packs will not be accepted.)
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the movies will begin at 7 p.m. Free popcorn will be given to the first 300 attendees. For those attending the showing of Storied Streets, there will be a 20 to 30 minute discussion afterwards.
The mission of the CRC is to promote positive relationships within the community through dialogue, education, programs, and resources.
