Newton, NC – The Green Room Community Theatre’s presents its final musical of 2017-18 season: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This show will run for the next two weekends. This production will be performed in the McCreary Theatre at The Old Post Office Playhouse in historic downtown Newton!

From the creators of Wicked and Beauty and the Beast comes a dramatic and deeply moving retelling of Victor Hugo’s epic story of love, acceptance and what it means to be a hero. Showcasing the Disney film’s Oscar-nominated score with remarkable songs, this is a bold, highly-theatrical take on the moving tale of the outcast bell-ringer Quasimodo (Corey Knighton) and his master Frollo (Jeff Hatley), the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda (Abigail Pauley), and the dashing Captain Phoebus (Jeremy Whitener) in 15th-century Paris.

The show is stacked with a cast, crew, and orchestra of some of the most talented actors around. It will be a magical evening of music and theatre, an uplifting adventure as well as a tragic tale. You literally will leave pondering the lyrics from “What Makes a Monster and What Makes a Man.”

Although The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases songs from the Disney animated film, the show more closely follows Victor Hugo’s novel and is of a more intense nature, therefore it is recommending the show for ages 13 and up.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is directed by Sylvia Schnople with musical direction by Cathy Banner & Amanda Pauley and choreographed by Robby Fulton-Hofelich. It is produced by Hickory Park Furniture, Temple Furniture, & Lee Industries.

There will be performances on May 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 2018. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 3:00pm.
