Newton, NC – Catawba Regional Hospice is offering a presentation called Who’s Caring for the Caregiver at 5:30pm on August 16 at Morning Star First Baptist Church (126 4th Ave SW, Hickory).

The presentation addresses the major challenges of caregiving and offers guidance for people who are supporting a loved one challenged by chronic illness, disability, or a life-limiting condition. It also offers practical tips for avoiding burnout and emphasizes the importance of self-care.

Moreover, the class seeks to educate people about the many benefits that hospice care can bring to eligible patients. It’s intended to help caregivers understand that families and hospice providers are partners in care and that support is available at any time.

Anyone is welcome to attend the August class. In September, October, and November, CRH will host a caregivers support group as an extension of the initial presentation, featuring different topics each month. (See page 4 this week in FOCUS) There is no cost for any of the sessions.

To register, call the Rev. Sandi Hood, CRH’s Director of Community Outreach, at 828-466-0466, ext. 3212, or email her at shood@pchcv.org.
