Hickory – Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) presents the fourth annual Autolawn Party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 on the SALT Block Lawn, 243 Third Avenue N.E., Hickory. The fundraising event to benefit HMA educational programming features a Euro Classic Car Show, art exhibits, live music, food court, beer garden and more. Admission is free to spectators.
The Autolawn Party is a celebration of the road’s number one traveler – the automobile. The Euro Classic Car Show offers a wide-range of high quality, original European vehicles in an intimate, yet informal setting, without the pressure of a traditional Concours event. This year’s car show is a British Invasion theme highlighting all British makes and models, although all other European brands are eligible for registration. Entry is free for spectators.
Awards will be given in a small number of judged classifications and select categories. Entry classifications include German, Italian, British, Other European Makes and European Motorcycles. The public will have the opportunity to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. Voting takes place between 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., with only one ballot per person.
A Youth Judging Program will be available for spectators ages 8 to 14, bringing the world of classic cars to a kid friendly level. Registration is day of event. Limited space is available and participation is first come, first served.
The Autolawn Party will also feature live music in the beer garden and food court. Local performers Bob Sinclair and The Big Deals will play acoustic music starting at 2 p.m.
Classic car owners and enthusiasts are also invited to kick-off The Autolawn Party on Friday, Sept. 9 with an evening at the new Café Rule. The kick-off event will feature classic cars and motorcycles on display, courtesy of Paramount Automotive, and live music on the patio.
Café Rule will feature food and drink specials from the new menu, with a portion of food sales that night benefitting Hickory Museum of Art. Café Rule opens at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling the restaurant at (828) 324-2005.
