Each Police Officer is required to operate with an independent work ethic under minimum direct supervision.
Qualification Requirements are:
Must be 20 years of age or older; Good health and physical condition; Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (Graduate of a 4 year college or university preferred); Be a United States citizen; Have or be able to obtain a North Carolina Driver’s License; Have an Honorable Military Discharge, General Discharges are evaluated on a case by case basis; Pass an entry level physical ability test (POPAT); Pass an extensive background investigation including psychological examination, polygraph examination, etc; Pass a pre-employment Medical Examination and Drug Screening Test; Must not have a criminal record or a record of serious motor vehicle offenses;Live within 30 mile radius of Police Headquarters (347 Second Avenue SW, Hickory, NC)
