Hickory – Hickory Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the 2017 Greater Hickory Metro Basketball Camp, as well as the Greater Hickory Metro Basketball Elite Academy.  Both the camp and the academy will be held at Highland Recreation Center in July.

The basketball camp, which will run July 10 – July 14, is intended for both boys and girls who are rising first through ninth graders.  Drills for skills and fundamentals in all areas of the game will be featured each day to help the campers become the best players they can be.  In addition, competitive contests and team games will be held daily.  The boys’ session will run each day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the girls’ session will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Elite Academy, which will run July 17 – July 21, is intended for both boys and girls who are rising seventh through twelfth graders and who want to excel as basketball players.

The academy will be led by professional skill development instructors, including high school and college coaches and professional players.  This intense week of instruction will help each player take their game to the next level. The academy will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily.

Applications for both camps can be found online at www.hickorync.gov or pick up at any recreation center.  The cost for each camp is $70.  For questions, please contact Gary Bowne at (828) 327-6282 or email him at 1453bowne@charter.net.
