Hickory – The Pink Heals North Carolina Foothills Chapter and Dickinson Service Center of Hickory would like to invite the community to a weekend at Hickory Motor Speedway on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th. In appreciation of all police, fire, EMS, rescue, and public services, this weekend will be filled with events for all ages. Gates will open promptly at 5 pm on Friday and the first night of Pink Heals Night at the Races will begin. Children, ages eleven and under, will be admitted into both event nights for free, and the first one-hundred people to enter the gates on Friday will receive a complimentary goodie bag.

Friday evening will feature several attractions, including the Outback Steak House Pit Crew Challenge, a 100-Lap Enduro Race sponsored by Colors Edge, and a 20-Lap Smash and Crash Race sponsored by Smokey’s Wrecker Service. Those who wish to enter either race can locate the entry forms and rule sheets online at www.ncpinkheals.com or www.dickinsonservicecenter.com. Prior to the start of the Enduro Race, Hickory Motor Speedway will host the largest emergency services parade in the track’s history.

The night will also feature several children’s attractions including the Brushy Mountain Builders pitstop tire change, a firefighter combat challenge course, a best dressed job professional costume contest, inflatables and games, and a Dunkin’ Donuts dunking booth. Job professionals from the City of Hickory and Catawba County government will also be in attendance to share information about their departments and services to the community. Raffle tickets will be sold for door prizes, and the winning tickets will be drawn and announced throughout the evening. A music party will follow in the fourth turn of the race track to close out the night.

If you attend the race on Friday night, hold onto your tickets and join Pink Heals and Dickinson Service Center back at the race track on Saturday. Beginning at 11 am, CVCC will host a car extrication event at the race track, and the championship for the Outback Steak House Pit Crew Challenge will take place at 4:45 pm. Pink Heals will be at the track all day selling merchandise and will be joined by several other vendors from the area. The second installment of Pink Heals Night at the Races as sponsored by Dickinson Service Center will follow a traditional Saturday night race schedule, beginning at 7 pm.

This race features twin 40-lap late model stock cars, limited late models, street stock cars, 4-cylinder cars, and the renegades. Pink Heals is a non-profit organization that partners with public safety departments, local businesses, and families to bring communities across the United States together. Their work involves making home visits to show individuals that they are loved, cherished and important to others and serves to revive the human element of celebrating people, not causes. Pink Heals is an action, and when leaders put that action into motion, the community begins to heal. The Foothills Chapter currently serves the counties of Burke, Alexander, Caldwell, Iredell, Lincoln, and Catawba, and proudly wears the color pink to raise awareness and funds for those in need. They are proud to have Dickinson Service Center of Hickory sponsor these nights at the races. For all your automotive needs, visit the crew at Dickinson’s Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:30 pm, or contact their office directly at 828-294-4110. Both entities hope to see everyone in the community come out on the 23rd and 24th of August at the birthplace of NASCAR stars, our very own Hickory Motor Speedway.
