Lenoir, NC – Kate Steinbeck (flute) of Asheville and Jacquelyn Bartlett (harp)of Chapel Hill will return to perform at the Chapel of Rest on Sunday, October 16 at 4pm . The public is cordially invited to attend.
Iconic North Carolina harpist Jacquelyn Bartlett will join flutist Kate Steinbeck in performing music of Romantic French composer Gabriel Faure, Americans Lowell Liebermann and Alan Hovhaness, as well as Brazilian master Osvaldo LaCerda and Polish original Witold Lutoslawski. Both Jacquelyn and Kate have performed previously at the Chapel of Rest with the Keowee Trio in spring, 2010, and Kate also played with the “Acoustic Dessert” chamber music trio in the fall of 2008.
A champion of chamber music, Ms. Bartlett has worked with some of this generation’s most well-known composers, including George Crumb, Alberto Ginastera, Dan Locklair and George Rochberg, and she continues to bring new compositions to the concert stage. She currently is a member of the Artist Faculties of the UNC School of the Arts.
Flutist Kate Steinbeck created and directs Pan Harmonia, an independent chamber music company now in its 17th season, based in Asheville, NC. Pan Harmonia ffers a mosaic of concerts, educational and community outreach, and brings professional chamber music performances to audiences of all ages in diverse settings ranging from traditional concert halls to homeless shelters and prisons.
The concert will be followed by a reception with the musicians. Admission is $15, and tickets will be available at the door, beginning at 3 pm. The Chapel of Rest is located nine miles north of Lenoir on Highway 268, adjacent to the campus of the Patterson School.
