Newton, NC – The Green Room Community Theatre is pleased to present the 11th Annual Shakespeare in the Park production, Twelfth Night. The theatre is again joined by the City of Newton and Robert Abbey, Inc. to offer this free outdoor production at Southside Park on Business 321 south of Newton. Performance dates are August 12, 13, 19, & 20, 2016 at 7:30 pm each night.

Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night; or What You Will is essentially a traditional romantic comedy. The play has many of the elements common to Elizabethan romantic comedy, including the devices of disguise, mistaken identity, and separated twins, and its plot revolves around overcoming obstacles to “true” love.

In keeping with the spirit of our Shakespeare in the Park tradition, the play will be staged at the amphitheater in the park. So please remember to bring lawn chairs or a blanket. You might like to pack a picnic basket, or you may purchase snacks and drinks from a local high school drama club which will use the proceeds toward their productions this year.

Twelfth Night is directed by Hollie Sherrill. As always, it is free of charge and open to the public! In the case of rain at the park, the show will not be performed on that night.
