Hickory – Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is offering a Genealogy Workshop on Thursday, November 10th, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.  Join Peggy Mainess, Hickory Public Library’s Genealogy Librarian, in a presentation about using records in genealogy research.

This workshop will focus on census and tax records.  Because census records are a rich source of genealogical information, this workshop will explore types of census records available, how to assess a census record, problems associated with using census records and information available in the federal census by decade.  When census records do not exist for a locality or time frame, taxation records can be a useful substitute.  Participants will learn what taxation records are available, how to locate them and how to use them in association with other records.

The Genealogy Workshop is free, but registration is required.  Space is limited because the workshop will take place in Patrick Beaver Memorial Library’s Carolina Room on the second floor.

To register, call 828-304-0500 ext. 7235.  Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located at 375 3rd Street NE on the SALT Block.
