Hickory -The public is invited to a show of photographic art at Full Circle Arts. The exhibition / competition, “Altered States: Digitally Enhanced Photography” opens with a reception Thursday, January 11, 6:00 to 8:00pm. Awards will be given at the reception for 1st through 3rd place and Honorable Mentions.
The artists begin with a digital photograph, then manipulate it on a computer to create a new, and often very different, image.
The show was judged by Aaron Tallman, a freelance graphic artist who teaches photographic technology, among other specialties, at Catawba Valley Community College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. According to participant Spencer Huffman, “These competitions are a good way to meet other artists and keep in touch with what’s going on.”
The exhibition continues at Full Circle Arts until February 17.
FCA is a non-profit artists’ cooperative located in downtown Hickory, 42-B Third Street NW. FCA members are present at the gallery Wednesday through Friday from 11:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
