Valdese, NC – Old Colony Players – The outdoor drama, “From This Day Forward,” will open for the 49th season on Friday, July 15 at the Fred B. Cranford Amphitheatre in Valdese.
The Old Colony Players has performed the show annually since 1968. “From This Day Forward” is the 4th longest running outdoor drama in North Carolina.
The production showcases the heroic journey of the Waldenses, the founders of Valdese. In two acts, the audience will be introduced to over 200 years of engaging history, including the religious persecution of the Waldenses, their ultimate triumph in the Cottian Alps of Italy, and the hardships they faced as they settled in the foothills of North Carolina.
Vickie Hyde, General Manager for OCP, says that this is sure to be an exciting season. John Hogan, this season’s artistic director, is no stranger to this show. Hyde states that “John has directed before and we are thrilled to have him return.” Hyde goes on to say that the cast is full of new and familiar faces. “We have several new cast members this year, as well as veteran performers. They have been working hard this summer to bring the show to life.”
The outdoor drama will open July 15th and will run on Fridays & Saturdays at 7:45pm. The production will conclude on August 13th as part of the 41st Annual Waldensian Festival.
