Hickory — The biggest and best book sale of the year is coming up at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, October 5 – 8. With thousands of titles from which to choose, the book sale is an opportunity for every member of the family to replenish their bookshelves for fall and winter reading.

During the sale, sponsored by the Friends of Hickory Public Library, shelves and tables will be filled with thousands of books: paperbacks, hardbacks, fiction, non-fiction, children’s, history, biography, travel, reference, crafts, cookbooks, religious, business, music, gardening and more.

“People look forward all year to this book sale because of the great selection of books, all very reasonably priced,” said Rochelle Walton, President of the Friends group. “The book sale is the major fundraiser for the Friends and the money earned is used to supply non-budgeted items to enhance the services that the library provides, including the kids’ bookmark contest and visiting artist and writer programs. All are welcome. You don’t have to have a library card or be a member of the Friends — just someone who loves a good book.”

The book sale takes place from Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8. Thursday hours are 4-7 p.m. for Friends members only. New members may pay their annual dues at the door to take advantage of early shopping and refreshments on this special day. The public is welcome to shop on Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Sunday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. is Bargain Day, and shoppers can fill a bag with books for $3. The Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is at 375 Third Street NE in Hickory.
