Hickory – Multi-talented actor and singer Jeremy Whitener plays a variety of yard sale shoppers in “Junk”, which is now running in a mainstage revival production at the Hickory Community Theatre.

Whitener should be a familiar face to local audiences, having appeared in several high profile shows. His prior roles at HCT include Donkey in “Shrek” and Feuilly in “Les Miserablés.”  He was most recently seen as Bernardo in “West Side Story” at The Green Room, where he is currently in rehearsal as Gaston in “Beauty and the Beast. A native of Catawba County, Whitener grew up in Terrell and now lives in Newton. He is a music teacher for Catawba County Schools.

The final performances of “Junk” are Thursday, Oct 27 at 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday, Oct 28 & 29 at 8pm; and Sunday, Oct 30 at 2:30pm. The production is rated PG-13.

Tickets for Friday through Sunday performances are $20, with a $2 discount for seniors and half price for students and for youth 18 and under. Adult tickets for Thursday night are $16; students and youth 18 and under are $10.
