Burbank, CA (AP) – A driver fleeing a Southern California flood rode a wave of muddy water down a twisting road in his car and says he’s lucky to be alive.
Desionne Franklin says he was afraid it was all over as the Prius careened down Country Club Drive in the Burbank foothills Tuesday.
Video shows the car sweeping down and around a curve on the rapid, rocky, muddy cascade.
Franklin says his girlfriend was screaming and he lost all control of the car for 30 seconds as it slewed downhill on the wave. The car finally reached the bottom of the hill safely.
Other cars were swept away and mangled.
Franklin says the Prius only had a few scratches after getting him through hell and high water.
