Hickory Inat'l CouncilHickory – Our planet is powered by global human relationships. Hickory International Council, a municipal commission of the City of Hickory, is pleased to present a public dialogue that will showcase the importance of relationships across countries through various perspectives: political, historical, and economic. The event will take place on February 8, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the SALT Block’s Drendel Auditorium.

Organized by the municipal commission and community organizer Aaron Kohrs, ‘Doing Diplomacy: What It’s Like to Work for the World’ is a seminar that invites the Hickory community to take a closer look at the fundamentals of how our modern world functions – through the same basic human relationships that power a productive society.  Speakers at the seminar will include:

Dr. Claudio Carpano, Honorary Consul of Italy to North Carolina and Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Belk College of Business.

Mr. Antoine Ripoll, Director of U.S. Congress and European Parliament Liaison Office.

Dr. Renee Scherlen, Professor of Political Science at Appalachian State University.

Mr. Sven Gerzer, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce’s Vice President of Economic Development for Indian and European Sectors.

The event is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be provided.  Questions are encouraged following the speakers’ presentations. Mr. Ripoll will be available via live videoconference.
