Hickory – Newcomers of Catawba Valley will learn about the world’s exotic trees at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 14. Rocky Mehta will talk about how he searches internationally for trees to stock his West Penn Hardwoods, as well as how craftsmen and artisans use the wood. His family-owned business, located in Conover, is the nation’s largest supplier of exotic hardwoods.

The public is invited to hear Mehta’s talk, which starts at 10:30 am at the Hickory Regional Airport, 3101 9th Ave. Dr. NW.

Newcomers of Catawba Valley is primarily a social organization that enables new and long-time residents of the region to meet, make friends and participate in a variety of activities, including support of area charities and service programs. The club is made up of men and women and does not limit how long a member may belong.
