Newton, NC – Euromarket Designs, Inc., an Illinois corporation, d/b/a Crate and Barrel, plans to develop a new 736,000 square foot regional warehouse and distribution center in Newton, Catawba County with The Keith Corporation. The company intends to invest $38.5 million in constructing and equipping the facility and create 150 jobs by the end of 2022 on a 69-acre site in front of the Target distribution center on Highway 10.

“We’re incredibly excited about this move,” said Tim Stover, SVP of Supply Chain for Crate and Barrel. “We’re always looking for ways to innovate and build for the future. Our Newton facility will streamline order fulfillment for customers and accelerate our sustainability commitments as a company.”

“Catawba County’s continued economic growth is one of our top priorities,” said Randy Isenhower, chair, Catawba County Board of Commissioners. “Crate & Barrel joins a long list of companies who are benefitting from Catawba County’s desirable distribution location. We welcome their commitment to creating jobs for our talented workforce that will further strengthen our local economy.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Crate and Barrel to Newton,” said Mayor Eddie Haupt. “Newton works hard to maintain its excellent reputation as a home to leading industries and businesses, and we are excited to begin this new venture with Crate and Barrel and The Keith Corporation as they establish a regional distribution facility in the Newton Corporate Center. We appreciate their recognition that the City of Newton provides great opportunities through our City’s talented workforce and outstanding utility service. We look forward to growing with Crate and Barrel for many years to come.”

“Being strategically located is of crucial importance for both manufacturing and distribution companies,” adds Garrett Hinshaw, Chair of Catawba County Economic Development Corporation and President of Catawba Valley Community College. “Newton Corporate Center is not only located in the middle of one of the most robust furniture manufacturing areas in the nation with a strong workforce development pipeline in Catawba County, it is also located along a strong transportation backbone that connects Interstates 40 and 85, making it particularly attractive for logistics projects such as Crate & Barrel.”

Local incentives will be considered for the project at public hearings by the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and Newton City Council.
