Hickory – In observance of the Christmas holiday, the City of Hickory will close its offices Monday, December 24, through Wednesday, December 26. The City of Hickory offices will re-open on Thursday, December 27, at 8:30am.

City offices will also be closed in observance of New Year’s Day on Tuesday, January 1, and will re-open on Wednesday, January 2, at 8:30am.

Other city department closings and/or schedule changes:

Solid Waste Department
The Solid Waste Department, and its services, will operate on a normal schedule on Monday, December 24. All solid waste collection services, including garbage and recycling pickup, will be suspended on Tuesday, December 25, for Christmas Day. Due to this closing, all services for the remainder of the week will be shifted one day to run Wednesday through Saturday.

Hickory Public Library
Hickory Public Library, the Patrick Beaver Memorial main facility and the Ridgeview Branch, will be closed Monday, December 24, through Wednesday, December 26, as well as Tuesday, January 1.

Parks and Recreation Department
The administrative offices are closed Monday, December 24, through Wednesday, December 26, as well as Tuesday, January 1.

Ridgeview Recreation Center, Highland Recreation Center, Neill Clark Main Building, and Westmont Senior Center will be closed Monday, December 24, through Wednesday, December 26, as well as Tuesday, January 1.

Westmont Recreation Center, Brown Penn Recreation Center, and Neill Clark Gymnasium will be closed Tuesday, December 25, through Thursday, December 27, as well as Tuesday, January 1, in observance of the New Year.

Parks are open 365 days a year.
