Hickory – Friday, May 6, The City of Hickory and Bob Sinclair Music will kick off the 2016 Sails Original Music Series, featuring music from national and international touring acts, performing every Friday night in May, June, and September under the Sails on the Square in Downtown Hickory.
“The City of Hickory is excited to bring the Sails Original Music Series back in 2016, with the type of entertainment that the community looks forward to each year; unique bands from all over the United States, playing a variety of music genres,” said Dana Kaminske, Communications and Marketing Manager for the City of Hickory. “With the help from Bob Sinclair and our wonderful event sponsors, we know this season will be packed full of music from great artists; a few names who are returning to Hickory to play this series again. It is a fun way to spend a Friday night; enjoying free entertainment with friends or family in Downtown Hickory at The Sails on the Square.”
“What started out as an idea for a modest music event in 2012 has become a highly regarded annual musical series that attracts people from across the southeast,” explained Sails Music Series Coordinator, Bob Sinclair. “This year’s lineup will represent, perhaps, the most talented and diverse selection of music yet – with folk artists, blues bands, classical/pop groups, Greek party bands, rocking mad-women, solo artists, and big bands. It’s going to be fun.”
The series begins with Cicada Rhythm, a folk/country group from Athens, GA anchored by bassist Andrea DeMarcus and guitarist Dave Kirslis. The two are romantic, as well as creative partners. “I always support happy lovers,” declared Sinclair. “And Cicada Rhythm is love rolled up into melody. They sing to each other. They sing about each other and they draw you into all that. I suspect that there will people that will be touched during this concert. So bring a pretty girl and fall in love this Friday night.”
The Sails Original Music Series is able to bring excellent musical entertainment from all over the United States with the help of the following sponsors: Bob Sinclair Music, Crowne Plaza, FOCUS Newspaper, Hickory Metro Convention Center and Visitor’s Bureau, The Hickory Wine Shoppe, Larry’s Music & Sound, Olde Hickory Brewery, Patrick, Harper & Dixon, LLP Attorneys at Law, TheSilentP.com, and WHKY 1290 AM.
