Conover, NC – Carolina Caring, founded in 1979, is an independent, community-based, nonprofit health care provider.

It specializes in programs that offer relief from chronic conditions, serious illnesses, and the challenges they bring, including palliative medicine, hospice care, and grief counseling. Currently, Carolina Caring serves 12 counties across western North Carolina and the Piedmont.Carolina Caring Offers Several Community Support Groups

The following is a list of free support groups you may participate in:

Good Mourning Coffee Group
We invite you to grab a cup of coffee and join us for an informal time of sharing and connecting with others who are also on a journey of healing. No registration is needed.
Meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 9:00am – 10:00am (In Person).
Meeting Location: Hickory Bread – 1756 Catawba Valley Blvd. SE, Hickory

“All There Is” Virtual Support Group
This is a virtual support group that will focus on loss and grief as we have conversations about the people we lose, the things they leave behind, and how to live on. This discussion will be based on “All There Is” – a free podcast series by Anderson Cooper. Prior to each group meeting, participants will be asked to listen to an assigned podcast discussion; each podcast lasts approximately 45 minutes. This group will meet virtually using the Zoom platform and instructions to join will be provided. Registration deadline is January 13, 2023. This virtual group will meet Tuesday, January 17th from 6:00pm – 7:00pm and continue every Tuesday through the month of February.

Grief with a Side of Pancakes
Have you ever wondered what grief and pancakes have in common? We invite you to join us for a pancake brunch as we explore working through our grief and learn what pancakes have to do with it! Registration is required by February 3, 2023. www.carolinacaring.org/support

Loss by Suicide Support Group
Grief after a loss by suicide is profoundly challenging and complex. Being with others who have experienced a similar loss can offer comfort, encouragement, and practical coping techniques. This group will serve as a safe, compassionate place helping you navigate this difficult time. This group will meet virtually using the Zoom platform and requires registration. This virtual group will meet on Wednesday, January 11th from 6:30pm – 8:00pm and continue to meet every Wednesday during the months of January and February.

Carolina Caring Offers Loss of Spouse Support Group
Losing a spouse is one of life’s most profound losses. Carolina Caring is offering a support group for anyone who has lost a spouse or a companion. Participants will have an opportunity to share memories of their loved one, learn more about the grief process and gain helpful coping skills.
