Valdese, NC – Artists nationwide are invited to register for Paint the Park 2022, the inaugural plein air event for oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel painters held at Valdese Lakeside Park, a 300-acre Call For Artistsforested preserve in Valdese. Presented by the Rock School Arts Foundation, the Town of Valdese and Friends of the Valdese Rec the event will welcome artists to enjoy the many cultural assets that Valdese has to offer.

Registration is limited to 35 painters who can paint one or more scenes in Valdese Lakeside Park and McGalliard Falls Park during daylight hours, from September 10th through September 15th. Artists may submit one entry from their week of work for judging on September 16th. Registration deadline is Monday, August 15th. The registration fee (which includes admission for the artist and one guest to the reception on September 17th) is $25.

Artwork will be reviewed on September 17th by a judge selected by the Rock Arts School Foundation Board of Directors. Awards for selected artwork include $950 in cash prizes, $300 value in gift baskets and an exhibition in the Rock School Arts Foundation gallery.
All participating artists can select one of their masterpieces to be entered to win one of these prizes:

First prize – $500 plus an exhibition in the RSAF gallery during 2024
Second prize – $250 plus a gift basket
Third prize – $125 plus a gift basket
People’s choice – $75 plus gift basket

An awards ceremony and public reception will be held on September 17th at the historic Old Rock School, featuring live music by Stone’s Throw, hors d’oeuvres, and Peach Bellinis. Tickets for guests are available for purchase.
