Lenoir, NC – The Caldwell Men’s Chorus presents its 2016 Spring Concert on Saturday evening, April 23rd at 7:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir. The concert is free and open to the public. Special guests will be the Youth Ensemble Singers (YES) and the Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) Chorus. The Caldwell Men’s Chorus and YES are under the direction of Mr. Keith Smith. The CVCC Chorus is under the direction of Mrs. Caroline Simyon.

The Caldwell Men’s Chorus is a non-profit chorus, based in Lenoir, NC, currently featuring 25 singers ranging in age from 15 to 83. The group is known for their artistry, warmth, enthusiasm and crowd pleasing tendencies. The chorus performs an eclectic range of music; included in this concert are several spirituals and sacred songs, American and Irish folk songs, popular songs, beach music and patriotic songs.

menschorusThere is a tribute to recently deceased Eagle, Glenn Frey. Director Keith Smith says, “We feel very good about this concert because it includes several pieces that have been popular for us in the past, balanced with several new selections.” Accompanist for the group is Mr. Greg Knight. The Men’s Chorus performances are sponsored in part by a Grass Roots Grant from the Caldwell Arts Council.

The Youth Ensemble Singers (YES) is a 21 member girls’ chorus, ranging in age from 8-18. Among the pieces presented by YES will be “Let There be Peace on Earth/Peace Like a River,” “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” “Three American Folk Songs,” “Happy,” “Popular” from the Broadway musical “Wicked” and an arrangement of “Pie Jesu” from the Latin Mass.

The 23 member Catawba Valley Community College Chorus will also present both classical and popular selections, sacred and secular; among them are “Loch Lomond” and a medley of Temptations music.

First Presbyterian Church is located at 1002 Kirkland Street NW, Lenoir, NC 28645. There are no tickets needed, just show up at the door.
