Hickory – The Ridgeview Branch of the Hickory Public Library is pleased to present several adult education programs throughout the month of March. Kristi Marlowe from Catawba Valley Community College’s High School Equivalency program will provide information about free online classes to prepare students to pass standardized equivalency tests such as the GED. There will be two sessions for this event on Monday, March 4 at 12 pm and again on Tuesday March 5 at 6 pm. Also, Vicki Vinson from Catawba Valley Community College’s ABE Academy will provide information about learning opportunities for adults looking to improve their reading, writing, math, and technology skills on Monday, March 4, at 6 pm.

The library is also hosting a free financial literacy workshop for adults looking to improve their personal finances. This workshop will be hosted on Saturday, March 30, at 11 am and lead by Alisa Dunn from Operation Hope. Topics to be covered include basic budgeting, how to save for an emergency fund, improving your credit score, and consumer rights.

Finally, on Tuesday, March 5, at 11 am, and Thursday, March 14, at 6 pm, staff from the Ridgeview Branch Library will be offering a Basic Computer Skills class for interested adults. Topics to be covered include how to use a mouse, type with a keyboard, open programs, and use a web browser to go online.
