Hickory – ACAP Hickory presents Caring for the Caregiver: Meaningful Resources for Caregivers on Tuesday, August 11, 5:30-7:00pm.

Until we are able to gather again in person, ACAP chapters are collaborating to offer monthly virtual programs, available via Zoom and Facebook Live.

Presenter: Mary Mitchell, Family Caregiver Support Specialist, Western Piedmont Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging

Being a primary support, advocate and/or caregiver for an aging loved one can provide a sense of meaning and joy, but also can be exhausting and surface a host of challenges. As a Family Caregiver Support Specialist, Mary Mitchell has extensive experience providing thoughtful, compassionate and meaningful insights, tips and strategies for family members and others who care about and care for aging loved ones. “Caring for the Caregiver” focuses on you, the support person, helping you learn strategies for taking care of yourself in order that you may better care for your loved ones.

ACAP (Adult Children of Aging Parents) provides information, resources, support and community for adult children as they care for their aging parents and for themselves. Local ACAP chapters offer free educational programs monthly. While we look forward to resuming in-person programs when safe to do so, during the Covid-19 pandemic, all programs are offered via Zoom and Facebook Live.

Although designed for adult children of aging parents, ACAP programs are open to all. ACAPcommunity is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
