Lincolnton, NC – The apples are plentiful, and organizers of the 44th Lincoln County Apple Festival, presented by First Federal Savings Bank, say that all is ready for the annual big event on September 17 on Main Street in Lincolnton.
Five local apple growers will take their places on East and West Main selling apples by the bag and by the bushel. More than 60 regional crafters will bring their handmade creations, more than 45 non-profit food vendors will bring everything from turkey legs to grilled corn to whole apple pies, and businesses, sponsors, downtown merchants, and other local non-profits equal a total of 210 booths. If the weather is especially nice, organizers expect more than 80,000 visitors, but the Festival will commence, rain or shine.
New this year will be a special appearance by Sir Purr of the Panthers, who will visit and pose for selfies on the East side of the Court Square from 11am until noon. Festival goers will also have a chance to meet Keeley Stempien, Lincoln County’s new Apple Queen, at the BPW booth on the Court Square and as she roams throughout the Festival.
A lineup of fresh local talent ranging from local dance groups, contemporary Christian, rock, and karaoke is set for three stages. Carnival rides, and a special Kid’s Orchard section guarantee plenty of fun for young visitors.
An expanded Ag City, on a grassy area on West Main just down from the Citizen’s Center, offers a variety of hands-on displays and games, including a train ride for children and vintage farm equipment. Parking is in good supply at Lincolnton High School on N. Aspen Street and at Gaston College on S. Aspen, said Carole Howell, Festival coordinator.
The Lion’s Club will operate three lots on E. Sycamore, just a block off Main. We just ask you to leave your pets at home, please. Hot pavement is no place for paws.
The best place to learn what to see and do, where to park, and where to find a place to cool off is on our website, she said.
We suggest you come hungry, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a wagon to carry home all the apples and crafts you’ll buy.
