Hickory- WBTV Channel 3 anchor and author Molly Grantham is the featured speaker for the Friends of Hickory Public Library Annual Meeting at 10am on Saturday, June 2, in the meeting room at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

“We will present our 2018-2019 board members, hold a short business meeting, and then enjoy refreshments and our special guest speaker, Molly Grantham,” said Rochelle Walton, president of the Friends board. “Community members are welcome to attend and meet and hear Molly talk about her work as a television news reporter and as the author of Small Victories: The Off-Camera Life of an On-Camera Mom.”

Molly anchors WBTV News at 5:30 and 11pm. She is an Emmy-winning anchor and investigative reporter who has been named TV News Reporter of the Year for both Carolinas, one of Charlotte’s top “40 under 40” and one of Mecklenburg County’s “50 Most Influential Women.” Molly joined WBTV News in 2003. Prior to working in Charlotte, Molly reported at WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky and WTVD in Raleigh-Durham. She got her start interning at ABC-TV (Australian Broadcast Corporation) in Sydney, Australia.

Molly has covered a variety of social issues, including gangs, terrorism and the battle to legalize cannabis oil in North Carolina, and has produced and hosted award-winning news documentaries. She is also known for her heartfelt stories on local kids facing uphill medical battles. Since her second child was born in late 2014, Molly has used her Facebook page to write about the attempts to keep up with a challenging career, two kids and the constant swirl of life, and has turned those stories into her book, Small Victories: The Off-Camera Life of an On-Camera Mom, which was published in 2017.
