Hickory – Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) brings a compelling new exhibit and installation from photographer Brian Lackey entitled Past Lives, featuring guest curator and HMA Board of Trustees Co-Vice President, Kit Cannon.
Past Lives is Lackey’s first exhibit of this kind, which includes works spanning over 20 years of his career, as well as music and film projections. The exhibition is an exploration of the artist’s personal journey in life through a combination of photographic self-portraits, drawing book excerpts, and new found object installations.
“Inside my time here, I’ve lived imaginary persons, animals, existential beings, holding no one sex or true identity that we, a human race, can identify. That is the gift of imagination. I believe we all escape in a form of this,” says Lackey.
Past Lives will run May 6 – Sept. 17. Admission to HMA is free. Hours: Tues. – Sat. 10AM – 4PM and Sun. 1PM – 4PM. HMA, 243 3rd Ave. NE, Hickory. www.HickoryArt.org 828-327-8576.
