Hickory – The public is cordially invited to “Our State of Mind: A Seminar on Mental Health Today” on Thursday, September 6, 7-8:30pm at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library Meeting Room, for an evening of information and inspiration. A panel of those personally affected, policy-makers, and practitioners will be speaking about the state of mental health in our country, specifically the Unifour region. Speakers include:

Mr. James Estes, regional representative of Sen. Thom Tillis; Dr. Donna Fletcher of “A Caring Alternative” in Morganton; Mr. Randy Isenhower, Catawba County Commissioners Chairman and Partners Behavioral Health board member; Ms. Edie Raether, inspirational speaker and hypnotherapist (as featured on NBC, CBS); Ms. Kathryn Grandgenett, carer, Partners respite recipient, and Autistic Education Foundation board member (personal testimony)

Event organizer and facilitator Mr. Aaron Kohrs, a local educator and advocate, will give a brief historical context of mental health evolution in America. Question-and-answer segment to follow talks. Refreshments provided by PDQ of Hickory. The Women’s Resource Center of Hickory will be present at the event with mental health resources. All welcome.
