Hickory- The youth actors of the Hickory Community Theatre’s RugBug Theatre program will premiere their latest adventure, Remarkable Rita and the Gallant Thieves, this Saturday May 5th with performances at 2:30 and 4:00pm. The show runs through May 13th.

Rita and the Gallant Thieves is a story about a girl whose mother, the Queen of Bellaland, is angry that her daughter is more attractive. She banishes Rita and that is where the fun starts. Rita meets the gallant thieves and they work together to save all of Bellaland from the Queen. It is like Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood, and Snow White all mixed together to create something new and different.

The RugBug Theatre at HCT is a “by kids for kids” program where young actors perform for young audiences. Actors’ ages usually range from 6-16 and audiences have children as young as three. The plays are short, 45 minutes to an hour with a 10 minute intermission between acts, which is perfect for young children.

Performances of Rita and the Gallant Thieves are Saturdays and Sundays, May 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th at 2:30 and 4:00pm. Admission is just $5 for all ages. Ticket sales are at the door only, first-come first-served.

HCT is a Funded Affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County. The 2017-2018 Season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive and A Cleaner World. The RugBug Theatre is produced by Commscope, The Rotary Club of Hickory and Shurtape.
