Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre’s fantasy adventure drama The Hobbit continues its performance run this weekend in the Jeffers Theatre, starting off with a very special “Fan Club Thursday” event March 15th at 6:30pm, just for fans of the stories of Middle Earth. Bilbo Baggins will be there for a meet and greet with the guests.

“We started “Fan Club Thursdays” in January to celebrate our loyal patrons and encourage newcomers,” said Pamela Livingstone, Artistic Director. “This time around we’re reaching out to the fans of Tolkien’s books with a special offer. We’re encouraging Hobbit lovers to dress up as their favorite character or even just pop on some elf ears. Those who do will be rewarded with a special Hobbit related goodie.”

Since not everyone might have a Hobbit costume, patrons have the option of bringing in a copy of any of Tolkien’s books for Bilbo to autograph. Thursday night is also the Theatre’s discounted admission night, with adult tickets just $14.

Performances of The Hobbit are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm (Mar 16, 17, 23 & 24); Thursdays at 7:30pm (Mar 15 & 22); and Sundays at 2:30pm (Mar 18 & 25.)

All seats are $18, seniors age 60+ are $16 and tickets for students and youth 18 and under are $10. On Thursday nights all adults and seniors are $14. Tickets are now on sale online at hickorytheatre.org or through the Theatre box office, in person or by phone at 828-328-2283. Box office hours are 12-5 Wednesday through Friday.

HCT is a Funded Affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County. The 2017-2018 Season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive and A Cleaner World. The Hobbit is produced by Robert Abbey, Inc. and Sunbelt Furniture Xpress.
