The faith based United Way agency’s outdoor holiday event has become a family friendly tradition in Hickory, everything is free, and it will be held rain or shine. The public can stroll around Exodus Homes in the beautiful Christmas lights while enjoying free samples of food from Mountain Fried Chicken, Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse, McDonalds, Red Lobster, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Hickory Soup Kitchen, Cooperative Christian Ministry, Pepsi Cola, Publix, and more.
During the event, families can take free pictures with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, played once again by Chris and Lakeisha Johnson. Great music from the Exodus Missionary Outreach Church Gospel Choir and the Prodigal Sons and Daughters Praise Team will be part of the festival, and the St. Stephens High School Step team will perform. Mayor-to-be Hank Guess will welcome the crowd, and current Hickory Mayor Jeff Cline will light the rooftop Christmas tree to begin the festival. Exodus Homes’ William Mangum Honor Cards will be on sale during the festival.
Exodus Homes executive director the Rev Reggie Longcrier is excited about this year’s event saying “The Christmas Lights Festival this year will be bigger and better than ever, and with the excellent weather forecast for Monday we are expecting a record crowd.
