Newton, NC – Spooktacular returns to Downtown Newton on Saturday, October 27.

The fun starts at 5pm with a variety of activities around the 1924 Courthouse Square including games, costume contests, inflatables, carnival rides, food vendors, live music, and photo-ops with costumed characters from your favorite movies. Spooktacular is planned and presented by the Downtown Newton Development Association.

The Newton Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the Ghouls and Goblins Costume Contest for youth and adults beginning at 5pm outside the 1924 Courthouse. Preregistration runs from 5-5:30pm. Contestants 3 years old and younger will be judged from 5:30-6pm, contestants 4-7 years old will be judged from 6-6:30pm, contestants 8-12 years old will be judged from 6:30-7pm, contestants 13-17 years old will be judged from 7-7:30pm, and adult contestants will be judged from 7:30-8pm. In each age group one winner will be named for best original or handmade costume and one winner will be named for best commercial or store bought costume. Spooktacular is an old-fashioned fall festival. It’s family friendly and features storefront decorations, Halloween-themed inflatables, dinner concessions, and trick or treating with downtown businesses for toys and trinkets.
