Hickory – The Catawba County Democratic Party will hold its first-ever Meet the Candidates “All American Family Fun Fish Fry” from 3-5pm on Sunday, September 23, at Catawba Farms, 1670 Southwest Blvd., Newton.

“This year, we have a strong slate of candidates and we decided what better way to introduce them to voters than at a fun afternoon gathering at Catawba Farms in Newton with food, music, games, and more,” said Marcus Williams, chair, Catawba County Democratic Party. “We want voters and their families to be able to meet our outstanding candidates in an informal setting.”

Open to all and free of charge, the All American Family Fun Fish Fry will be catered by Family Delight of Newton, feature country dance music by Down the Hall, Balloons by Becki, face painting, photo booth, corn hole, bean bag toss, and other games. Beverages will be provided. Beer and wine will be available for purchase from Catawba Farms.

Catawba County native son State Representative Chaz Beasley, District 92, will be the emcee. Eleven candidates on the November 6 ballot are the featured guests. They are: Congressional candidates DD Adams (5th District) and David Wilson Brown (10th District); NC Senate District 42 candidate Ric Vandett; NC House candidates Kim Bost (District 96), Greg Cranford (District 89), and Dianne Little (District 94); Catawba County Commissioner candidates Laci LeBlanc, Michelle Morgan, and Geniey Yang; District Court Judge candidate Scott M. Cranford; and NC Court of Appeals Judge candidate Judge John Arrowood.

Area elected officials who are Democrats, including Hickory City Council members Charlotte Williams and David Williams and Newton City Council member Jody Dixon, will also attend.

“We’re making this free and at a central and large family-friendly location,” added Chair Williams. “We want as many people as possible to come meet the great candidates who are stepping up to run and serve.”
