Newton, NC – Join The Green Room Community Theatre for their first show of the new decade–Crimes of the Heart. In this 1981 Pulitzer Prize winner, written by Beth Henley, three sisters – one unmarried, one a failed singer, and one out on bail for shooting her husband – gather awaiting news of their dying grandfather.  Their troubles, which are grave but somehow comical, are highlighted by the other colorful characters of Hazlehurst, Mississippi.  All ends on a joyful note as the sisters reunite.

The show is being directed by Christian Underwood and is being produced by Whisk & Barrel. Production dates are January 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 at 7:30 pm and January 12, 19, 26 at 3:00 pm. The Box Office (828-464-6128) is open Wednesday – Friday from 10:00 am – 5:30 pm throughout the run of the show. Ticket prices are $18 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (age 60+), and $14 for Students (age 13+). The show is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for children under 13 years old.

Crimes of the Heart will be performed in the smaller, more intimate Black Box Theatre located in the Old Post Office Playhouse with its entrance on West A Street.  Many of the performances in the Black Box Theatre do sell out, so don’t wait to get your tickets.
